Whether or not this is a big issue, I support the cause.

Whether or not this has the ability to draw attention away from my own country’s problems and take funds away from what my country needs to go towards this cause, someone’s life will change for the better. (Kony 2012 will be written in…

I am a part of the Sask. Youth NDP and this weekend we are having a fundraiser in Saskatoon. I asked a friend to come and right away he said sure.

But then he tells me he’s not going because his mom doesn’t want him supporting the NDP.

Firstly, he is almost 20. Which party he chooses to support is up to him. I am not sure why he chooses to take orders from his parents still.

Secondly, I am OK with listening to what Conservative, Liberal, Green, etc. supporters have to say. Education and debunking myths is a healthy thing in my eyes. However, telling someone they “shouldn’t” or “can’t” support a party is setting parameters you aren’t even allowed to set.

People are allowed to have their own views;it’s a free country.

So that’s my rant for the day.

I don’t know why I volunteered to do this for the SYND because you can find blurbs on all candidates on the NDP website.

At the same time, we are making it a “YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR _________ BECAUSE” kinda article. Persuasive I guess.

Let the writing commence!

I’ll post it later.

So, as some may know the NDP is currently in debt.

At my SYND meeting yesterday we received a questionnaire on the upcoming sask. Leadership NDP race budget.

I’d like to share some of them with you:

To run for leader you must pay an entrance fee of 6,000 dollars. Should we lower, raise, or keep this fee the same? Why?

We voted mostly to lower it to around 5,000. Our reasoning being that we appeal to a lot of the ‘lower-class’ citizens and therefore making it more feasable for them to be able to run if they wanted to.

The current budget for each candidate to spend on their campaign is 200,000 dollars. Should we lower, raise, or keep this fee the same?

We voted on keeping it the same, but nobody was against lowering it. We looked at the figures of last election which showed the winner spent just under 200,000 dollars, while the others spent quite a bit under. As a sidenote, nobody was for increasing it.

Opinions?
